Leon Britton says that the whole squad is devastated for broken leg victim Alan Tate
Britton and Tate go back a long way at the club having both joined at similar times and now having both appeared in all four divisions for the club.
But whilst Britton continues his run of starting games this season, Tate now faces six months out of the game after a freak accident on Sunday saw him break his leg whilst out on the golf course.
And Britton revealed his sorrow when he told the official website “We are all devastated for him
“Something like this could only happen to Tatey. You couldn’t write it!
“If the accident happened on the training ground or in a game then it would be a lot easier to accept because it’s part and parcel of the game. But this was a freak accident and hard to take.
“He’s been with the club for a long time; he’s waited nearly 10 years for the chance to play in the Premier League after leaving Manchester United all those years ago.
“At least he captained the side in the first Premier League game at Manchester City. They can’t take that away from him.
“But he’s a strong character and has come through injuries in the past. He’ll do the same this time and I’m sure he will come back fitter, stronger and determined to make up for lost time.
“I’ll have to go to Swansea Market and get him some grapes
“He’s not having the seedless ones though; they’re far too expensive for him!”
