Coyle – They Are A Good Side With Good Players

Owen Coyle was in a reflective mood as he looked back on his side’s 3-1 defeat to the Swans

Coyle said after the gameย “Swansea are a good side with good players and they have a strong home record. We came into the game on the back of a decent performance against Arsenal and we set our stall out, had a good shape and coped with the home pressure, restricting them to just one shot on goal in the first-half.

“We could have gone in at half-time with the lead, accepting that their keeper made a good save from David Ngog.

“We were looking to build on that at the start of the second-half, but the sending-off simply changed the game.

“When we were reduced to ten men it was still nil-nil, but within a couple of minutes we’d set ourselves a mountain to climb, conceding the goals as we did.

“We showed spirit and endeavour to get back into it and score a goal for ourselves. That gave us a platform to go looking for at very least a point.

“We threw everyone forward, which obviously left us open at the back and when you are chasing a game there’s always the chance you can get picked off, which is what happened.

“We are not enjoying being where we are. We are better than what we have shown to this point and we have to get on the training ground and address that.

“Once again we took a good travelling support with us and it’s most disappointing that we couldn’t send them back to the North West celebrating a win.

“We are back at the Reebok next weekend when we face Stoke and we will be looking to get back on track. We were strong at home last season and we need to deliver that consistency and quality of performance again.”
