Leon Britton knows that a victory at Anfield on Saturday would send a hell of a message to the rest of the league
The Swans head off to one of football’s traditional fortresses on the weekend looking for their first Premier League win on the road and continue what so far has been a very promising season.
Ten games in and the Swans stand proudly in 10th place in the Premier League with only four defeats – three of which have come at the home of this season’s Champions League players.
Only Norwich have beaten the Swans outside of that elite and this weekend the Swans get the chance to pit their wits against a Champions League hopeful and the second most successful club in English football history.
Britton said: “It would be great if we could win against a big club like Liverpool at Anfield.
“It would send a massive message out to the rest of the league and move us three points further away from the teams at the bottom.
“At Wolves we were 10 minutes from picking up three points after a very good performance.
“It wasn’t to be but the next step now is to get that win on the road because our home form has been very good.
“We will go there and play our football the way we do and hopefully come away with something.
“The next thing for us is to try and get three points against one of the big teams.
“We’ve played Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal and it’s tough when you go to these places because they are always very strong at home.
“A draw at Anfield, if you offered it before the game, most teams would take.
“We will go to look to win but if we come away with a draw it’s a positive result.
“A big team like Liverpool at home will concentrate on what they do and not worry about us so much, we do the same at the Liberty.
“We think if we play how we know we can more often that not we will come away with a result.
“I’m sure Liverpool will do the same and it might give us an opportunity.”
