Ricketts – A Win And A Draw Could Be Enough For Swans

Former Swan Sam Ricketts believes that a win and a point could be enough to secure another season for the Swans

“They’re on 30 points now so I’d say a win and possibly a draw will get them out of it,” Ricketts told the Evening Post.

“There’s that many big sides taking all the points this year that 33 or 34 points might be enough, we’ll have to see.

“It will be chop and change all the way until the end of the season,” said Ricketts.

“It looks like it’s three from five at the minute.

“But a few weeks ago, the form of the bottom five was that good that teams above started looking over their shoulders.

“It’s up to us to drag some other sides in.

“Possibly, on the last day of the season, at half-time three clubs will be going down and at full-time it could be another three.

“It’s going to be exciting so we’ll have to wait and see.

“I’ve been there and done it before,” he said.

“You want to play for something and you want to play under pressure.

“You’d rather be fighting at the other end of the table but we can’t rest on our laurels. We’ll be fighting to the last minute like we did with Hull a couple of years ago.

“We stayed up on the last day of the season and it becomes a great achievement.

“I’ve been back six weeks or so now at club level and I haven’t missed a Wales game since I’ve been away,” added the 30-year-old.

“But to be out and playing again, you can’t beat that.

“Neil’s a good player and then there’s Adam Matthews as well.

“We’ve got competition for places, you can see that in the strength of the side on Wednesday even though we had injuries.

“If one player is injured or suspended there’s another to come in.”
