Swansea have confirmed that they will not appeal Nathan Dyer’s red card after he was sent off at Wigan

The Swans midfielder saw red in the second half of Satursday’s 2-0 win at the DW Stadium after a tackle on Jordi Gomez – a tackle that Alan Tate said the midfielder made the most of.

However, after reviewing the evidence, the Swans have decided not to appeal the decision

“Football people will tell you it’s barely a yellow card, never mind a red,” said Brendan Rodgers

“Jordi Gomez has not done us any favours whatsoever by rolling about like he did.

“As I say, football people will tell you it’s a yellow card at worst, but you have to weigh things up when there is a risk of losing an appeal and getting an extra game on the ban.

“I want to defend the player because it’s wrong — you look at our record throughout the season and you will see that we are not that type of team and Nathan is not that type of player.”
