Brendan Rodgers says the scoreline at White Hart Lane was harsh on his side

“I’m very proud of the players,” said Brendan. “The performance levels were fantastic and some of our football was outstanding.

“We started well and controlled the opening 20 minutes, but then we conceded the first goal. But then we began the second period superbly and it was a great finish from Gylfi.

“We had some great chances throughout the game and I thought the scoreline was a little bit harsh on us.

“We are disappointed to concede the two goals,” he said. “But Adebayor is a really talented player, and he has got the jump on us from both the corner and Aaron Lennon’s cross.

“Unfortunately the result didn’t reflect the performances level that the players put in, but it gives great hope for us going forward.

“The supporters were incredible today,” he said. “They are so passionate and care so much about this club and they spend a lot of money to come and watch us play all over the country.”
