Alan Curtis believes that it is fantastic for the trio of Swans players to be included in the GB Olympic football team
Curtis told the Evening Post “The boys will be away for much of pre-season, but they will not miss out on anything in terms of fitness
“They will get their fitness up working with the Olympic squad, and all you hope is that they get enough game-time along the way as well.
“The first priority for the three of them must be to impress enough in training and make sure they get into the team.
“They all have the ability to get into that side, I’ve got no doubt about that, and it’s important they get those games.
“Yes they are missing out on pre-season with us, but I think the experience our boys will gain will benefit them and benefit the club,” Curtis adds.
“It’s fantastic for them to be involved. It is a little unfortunate that Michael Laudrup won’t see them in pre-season games, but it’s great that the boys will be playing with top players and experiencing a big tournament.
“They will also be mixing with the top Olympic sprinters, great athletes from all over the world.
“It’s a once in a lifetime chance for them and I only wish the Olympic football team had been around when I was playing.
“I think he probably wants to play a certain style of football, the kind we have just seen Spain play in the Euros,” Curtis adds.
“Our boys will have to battle to get into the side like everyone else, but we certainly know they are comfortable playing that type of football.”
