Michu On Hunt For More Goals

As barren spells go it wasn’t a long one for Michu but the reality was that the man who scored so freely a month or so back wanted to hit the goal trail again very soon.

And now he is back on the scoresheet he is looking for more as he eyes the Swans ย coming games which include a League Cup final against Bradford in two weeks time.

โ€œThatโ€™s good, but I need to score more,โ€ said Michu, talking to the official Swans website

โ€œI went a lot of games (seven) without a goal, so it was important I could get two goals and the team scored four.

โ€œQPR brings back good memories for me because I scored two goals on my debut against them, and I managed another two this time.

โ€œFor the first goal I could see Nathan was going to shoot, so I hoped the goalkeeper would spill it. It was a difficult chance to take, but I managed to get it into the net.

โ€œMy second goal came from a brilliant pass from Pablo. I know Pablo, Wayne Routledge and Nathan can make this type of pass so I make the run knowing they will find me.

โ€œWe played very well in the first half. We scored two goals and they didnโ€™t have a shot,โ€ Michu reflected.

โ€œThey came back straight away in the second half, but we did well to score straight away through a very good goal from Pablo.

โ€œThen the fourth goal came and that finished the game.โ€

Michuโ€™s brace is a quick reminder to Spain boss Vincente del Bosque of his talent after he was left out of the national squad for a recent friendly.

But Michu insists his focus on solely on the Swans, who now face Liverpool next week before the Capital One Cup Final against Bradford City at Wembley.

โ€œSpain are the best team in the world, so it is difficult to get into the squad as they have excellent players,โ€ said Michu, who flies out to Dubai for warm weather training with the Swans squad today.

โ€œSo I will keep working very hard for Swansea. I am happy with the team and my goals.

โ€œWe also have a final soon, so Iโ€™m hoping I can win the first title of my career.

โ€œWe needed this kind of performance and result. We are now on 37 points, which is near safety, and now we go to Dubai with a smile.โ€
