Chico Unlikely To Make Cup Final

The defender was stretchered off during the first half of yesterday’s 4-1 win over QPR at the Liberty with a nasty looking injury that Michael Laudrup admitted at the time could keep him out of the Swans showpiece game.

Chico has still travelled with the rest of the squad to Dubai for a break prior to next week’s clash against Liverpool.

โ€œItโ€™s difficult at the moment to assess how long he will be out because we need the swelling to go down first,โ€™โ€™ explained Swanseaโ€™s head physio Kate Rees. โ€œBut he is very unlikely to make the cup final.โ€™โ€™

Chico has been close to an ever present with the Swans this season and his central defender partnership with Ashley Williams has stopped many an attacking force in recent months with many failing to break down the two of them.

The absence of Chico will give a cup final opportunity to either Swans captain Garry Monk or Kyle Bartley alongside Williams at Wembley.
