Goals from Ben Davies and Pablo Hernandez were enough to give the Swans a win at last and after the game people from both camps shared their views with the watching media.

Swansea manager Michael Laudrup

“A very, very important win. An away win, a clean sheet and the way we did it was perfect. After two very difficult games it was so important to get something.

“In the second half we have really dominated the game. I think we could have scored a couple more goals. We had some great chances.
“I was thinking ‘are they going to equalise?’ but fortunately they didn’t and we won the game with a very good performance.

“One striker I think will come in, no-one out. I think it will be finished tomorrow.”

West Brom manager Steve Clarke

“Disappointing. Another home game where we have not scored. It is not a good way to start the season.

“I thought we played a lot of good football, probably the best football we have played for a while. Swansea did not create a lot either. It was a possession game; the first goal was crucial.

“It is a long season. We have to try to improve what we have done so far. We have to create more chances.

“I know there are people at the club working hard to make deals happen. Time is short but hopefully before the window closes they will have some fresh blood. We are after forward players as much as possible.”

Swans winger Pablo Hernandez

รขโ‚ฌล“It was very, very important for us to win because we started the season with two losses,รขโ‚ฌย said Hernandez, whose strike was his first away goal since joining the Swans.

รขโ‚ฌล“The last two weeks have been very, very hard. When you play in Europe you have a lot of games to play and of course we had to play Manchester United and Tottenham in our first two league games.

รขโ‚ฌล“But today we worked hard as a team and we deserved to win the game.

รขโ‚ฌล“I was also delighted with my goal รขโ‚ฌโ€œ it was a great pass from Michu.รขโ‚ฌย

Ben Davies, scorer of the first goal

รขโ‚ฌล“It was a massive win for us,รขโ‚ฌย he said. รขโ‚ฌล“When we looked at the fixtures we knew this game was one where there was a possibility of a win.

รขโ‚ฌล“If we pick up something in those games then itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs great, but sometimes we have to appreciate what weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขre up against.

รขโ‚ฌล“We have had some tough games to start with but this was a great three points for us and the performance was very good.
