Shelvey was right in the thick of it against his former club as he scored inside two minutes before two mistakes gave the visitors the lead ahead of him setting up Michu for the final goal of the night that ensured a share of the spoils.

Shelvey was signed for £5m from Liverpool in the summer and he looked as if he was ready to make them pay for the decision to sell him when he fired the Swans ahead after just 87 seconds of the game. After having a swipe at the ball outside of the box he went past Sakho in the Liverpool defence and after his first shot was blocked he calmly slotted home the second chance to put the Swans ahead.

However, just two minutes later he had turned from hero to villain when his back pace to Vorm was picked upon by Sturridge and the in form Liverpool striker scored his fourth goal of the season to bring the visitors back level with less than four minutes on the clock.

IT was a pulsating start to the game with the action end to end in the early stages it wasLiverpool who were on top and Sturridge almost scored again were it not for a fine save from Vorm after a cross from Moses.

And it was the on loan Moses who scored the third goal of the game when he gained possession off Shelvey and drove at the Swansea defence, shooting into the bottom corner from the edge of the area to put Liverpool ahead just before half time.

It had been over 20 years since Liverpool had won their first four league games of a season and at this point they looked on track but the loss of Coutinho to injury seemed to change the game and the Swans took the upper hand.

A typical nice passing move saw Shelvey flick a ball into the box into the path of Michu who hit a first time shot perfectly into the corner of the net to bring the Liberty to its feet and tie the game up once more.

From that point on there only really looked one winner as the Swans pressed their visitors and Michu, Shelvey and De Guzman all came close to grabbing a winner on the night but it was not meant to be.

For the first game in a big week for the Swans the result was just what they needed lifting them up to 13th in the table ahead of trips to Valencia (Thursday) and Crystal Palace (Sunday)
