If one of the criticisms levelled at the Swans in recent weeks was all about a lack of passion and fight Norwich failed to display either one of them this afternoon and slipped back down the table to 15th and below the Swans after a lacklustre display.
With tougher tests than the Swans to play then the Canaries have left themselves looking over their shoulders knowing that they probably need to try and find themselves four more points perhaps to secure their Premier League safety.
Hughton was powerless to stop the rot today after two goals from Jonathan De Guzman and one from Wayne Routledge saw his side beaten quite comfortably.
รขโฌลWe didnรขโฌโขt deserve anything,รขโฌย said Hughton.
รขโฌลApart from a spell in the second half when Robert Snodgrass had a shot that was fabulously cleared off the line we were second best in the game. We have found it very difficult to get that right formula.
“We have chopped and changed and I felt we came here with a positive line up and off the back of a really good performance. You are reliant on keeping the ball well against a side like Swansea. We never kept it well enough and if that is the case then you can not afford to present them with good opportunities to score.
“They are too good a side not to take them when they hit a bit of form in front of goal.รขโฌย
Whilst the words of Hughton are fair and honest he also has to admit that his side never really looked like creating much this afternoon and Ashley Williams clearance off the line was their best chance although Vorm did have to make one save as well.
What Hughton will know is that if his side are to ensure their own safety then he will be looking for an increase in performance level in the coming weeks much as the Swans have increased their own performance levels after a couple of disappointing results of their own.
