Vorm’s former club Utrecht have claimed that Swansea have broken the rules and that they are due a 30% sell on clause from the deal that saw Vorm move to Tottenham along with Ben Davies with Gylfi Sigurdsson moving in the opposite direction.
The Swans signed Vorm back in 2011 from the Dutch side paying just รยฃ1.5m for a keeper who was a massive part in why we stayed in the Premier League during that first season since promotion. And despite his form going backwards over the second and third seasons it was reported that the fee to take Vorm to White Hart Lane would be more than the fee initially paid.
However, when the deal was concluded it was reported as an undisclosed fee with rumours circulating of all kinds of figures relating to a triple transfer move.
The Swans said they had been in touch with Utrecht but from nothing more than courtesy before stating that the club will conduct business in the Swans best interests and not how others believe it should be conducted
It was a one off statement from the Swans and it is not that often that they publicly come out and effectively criticise another club which makes you wonder why it has got to that stage – you would assume that it means that Utrecht have rebuffed the hand of friendship that was made during the ‘courtesy’ call
I can’t see the statement being the end of the matter when you consider how many rumblings Utrecht have made themselves in the public domain and it should definitely be one of those cases of not washing dirty linen in public as nothing good is going to come out of it for either side.
