If You Were Garry – Sunderland (Away)

It is the scene of the last game of last season where we secured a final three points to gain a nice comfortable looking mid table position after a strong end to the season where we won three of our last four games to secure that safety.

Tomorrow though it is a different matter as the Swans head into the North East fifth in the Premier League table and looking to move back into the Top 4 with a win. Three league wins to start the season have been followed by defeats to Chelsea and Southampton although the midweek win over Everton will be a good confidence booster which will take us to Sunderland in optimistic mood.

And the midweek win gives Garry Monk some food for thought in his team selection so what will he do when he is picking his side for tomorrow’s game?

The goalkeeper picks himself at the moment although it is brilliant to see Gerhard Tremmel doing such a good job when he is called upon with two clean sheets in his two appearances to date so far. Not enough at the moment to displace Fabianski but certainly enough to keep him on his toes which is good news for us.

The back four will also be unchanged for me with Rangel, Williams, Fernandez and Taylor lining up for the game. Taylor is the one of the four who probably has his place in most danger and Tiendalli will always be waiting in the wings but for now Taylor retains that place.

In midfield we will see Ki come back into the starting line up to sit back alongside Shelvey and Sigurdsson as the trio for the sixth league game running. Leon Britton is heading back to full fitness which will be interesting to see what happens there when that happens but for now these are the three in possession and what a good job they are doing as well.

The performance of Jefferson Montero in midweek will have given Garry something to think about and if this was a home game then I may think differently and believe that he could start but I am not sure that an away game is the right place to be dislodging either Routledge or Dyer so I will stick with the tried and tested in my selection.

Finally we look up front. Wilfried Bony is back from suspension and no doubt will be keen to make up for his moment of madness last week. Bafetimbi Gomis did nothing wrong in midweek but for me (and based on the comments of the manager as well) Bony will be back in leaving the Swans to line up as follows
