Cork – We Were Unlucky Not To Win

Cork – a transfer window signing from Southampton – played in central midfield alongside Ki Sung-Yeung and was heavily involved in the game.

The Swans had 8 shots on goal to Sunderland’s 3 and that was enough for Cork to believe that they should have won the game to record back to back wins after a win against Cork’s former side Southampton last weekend.

The downside for Cork would have been a pointless yellow card that he picked up in the first half for kicking the ball away but overall it was an encouraging debut for the player who many believe is the long term replacement for Leon Britton who has missed much of this season through injury.

“Possession-wise it was pretty even, but I think we probably had a few more clear cut chances than they did,” he said.

“We had a couple that flashed across goal, Bafe (Gomis) had a few chances, Ki had one disallowed, so I think we were also a bit unlucky not to come away with the win.

“But that’s football, that’s the way it goes sometimes and we ended up having to come back from a goal down. In the second half we got going again and the boy got the ball down and played some good stuff.”
