New Three Year Deal Comes Monk’s Way?

Monk was the surprise choice to take over from Michael Laudrup when he left the club in February last year and after steering the club to the safety of mid table at the end of the 2013/14 term he went on a record breaking run last time taking the club to a record points haul in the Premier League.

Couple that with an eighth placed finish – again a club record – and you know why the Swans will be keen to secure Monk on a longer term deal to protect both theirs and his interests.

The Mail reports that the deal will be signed in the coming days and will represent a new one year extension to his current deal and run out in the summer of 2018.

Monk arrived at the club under the stewardship of Kenny Jackett and has been a major part of the team during his time here leading us through the divisions as captain before getting his first chance in management.

There were criticisms in some quarters of his appointment last year and the Swans were tipped for relegation last term as a result but having proved the doubters wrong it now does seem that he is going to reap the rewards of his work with a new deal.
