Williams Already Looking Forward To Chelsea

Williams was last in action just over two weeks ago but rather than bemoan his fate at having to return to pre-season training already he was enthusiastic at the challenges ahead and looking forward to the opening weekend where the Swans take on the Champions at Stamford Bridge.

At the end of a week where there has been much criticism of the English football setup which rested several key players from the Under-21 team and saw them depart their competition early, it is a great feeling to know that our club (and country) captain is keen to get back into the action and sums up just why Ashley Williams is such an important cog in the Swansea City wheel.

รขโ‚ฌล“Itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs nice to see the guys and catch up on how everyoneรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs been over the summer,รขโ‚ฌย said Williams.

รขโ‚ฌล“Pre-season comes around quick, but itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs good to get back in because the start of every new season is exciting.

รขโ‚ฌล“Itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs been a good summer for me with Wales. Thereรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs not been much rest, but Iรขโ‚ฌโ„ขm still on a high from beating Belgium.

รขโ‚ฌล“Itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs mostly medical tests with the doctor and the physios to see where we are at today.

รขโ‚ฌล“Everyone is in shape, but pre-season will still hurt and will still be hard I am sure.”

Williams was joined in the gym by the Swans new signings which total three so far this summer although reports today suggest that Eder will sign on the dotted line next week and it does appear that terms have been agreed with the Portugal front man.

There are now just six weeks of work ahead of the Swans as they prepare for a 5th season in the Premier League and look to build on the record breaking form that they showed last time around.

“I canรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt wait for the season now. Weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขve got a good opening fixture – a difficult one (against Chelsea), but one that everyone will look forward to.

รขโ‚ฌล“Last season was great and probably my best season. I really enjoyed it, so weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขll be looking to have another good one this season.

รขโ‚ฌล“The confidence we built last season and the things we put in place, we will try and add to that and improve this season. The focus begins today right through until the end of the season.รขโ‚ฌย
