Sampson Tipped To Be As Successful As Monk

It may have been seen to be a massive gamble by Huw Jenkins to appoint Monk when he made him manager following the sacking of Michael Laudrup in February last year but the statistics speak for themselves and yet again it is proving to be an inspired appointment by someone who has a history of doing these things.

And Roberto Martinez could be cited as another one of those gambles but we know the history behind what happened there and it was under Roberto that Sampson got his coaching chance at Swansea when he was appointed under the stewardship of then academy head David Moss.

And having now guided England ladies to 3rd place in the 2015 World Cup then Sampson can expect his stock to be high with Moss believing that he could follow in the steps of Monk and make himself a successful manager in the Premier League.

Moss said รขโ‚ฌล“Garry was captain at Swansea and plenty of people thought it was a huge risk by the club to appoint him as a manger.

รขโ‚ฌล“He had absolutely no managerial experience at all, especially given he was following Michael Laudrup. But look what Garry has achieved since he took charge.

รขโ‚ฌล“He has proved itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs all about ability, attitude and work ethic and Mark has those skills as well.

รขโ‚ฌล“Mark didnรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt really have a playing career so even though he is young, he has already gained management experience. That was why he was given the England job.

รขโ‚ฌล“Even at a young age, Mark was a good fit at Swansea. We had the same philosophy and wanted the game played in the style, influenced by Spain, that was brought in by Roberto.

รขโ‚ฌล“I feel proud that I gave him that chance and pushed him but the credit goes to Mark. He had that desire to improve and educate himself.

รขโ‚ฌล“I could see his potential I thought he would go on to do well, perhaps as an academy manager. But I never thought he would reach these levels.รขโ‚ฌย
