The report – on HITC sport – suggested that the Swans were in line with Crystal Palace, West Brom and Newcastle for the goalkeeper but there is no way that it should have any substance in it – we have two goalkeepers already and both are better than McCarthy.
There may (and I stress the word ‘may’) have been some substance in it earlier in the summer when we were on the hunt for a goalkeeper to challenge Fabianski but now we have that keeper there is no way that Monk will be looking to add a third option or at least not one like Alex McCarthy anyway.
It has been reported by The Sun that QPR will allow McCarthy to leave if Robert Green, who has been linked with Chelsea and Sunderland, signs a new contract.
McCarthy joined QPR from Reading last summer but failed to make any real impact as QPR returned to the Championship once again.
I can safely say I am not really worried whether there will be any interest from the other three clubs but the interest from Swansea at this point is pure fabrication and nothing less.
