Thai Premier League All Stars 0 Liverpool 4

The post Raheem Sterling era started for Liverpool as they eased to a four goal win against their Thai Premier League opponents in Bangkok.

Goals from Lazar Markovic, Mamadou Sakho, Adam Lallana and Divock Origi were all on target for Brendan Rodgers’ side who completed the sale of Sterling to Manchester City earlier in the day.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers “Obviously we played two different teams in either half and I thought both teams played very, very well. The first half in terms of the heat and the [second half] conditions were difficult but I thought over the two halves they played very well. The Thailand team is a very difficult game for us but I was very pleased with that first game and the fitness levels.

“We were looking to find something from the game tonight. The first 20 minutes of each half we played with a high press to really force the game and in the second half of each half we looked to defend in a medium to low block.

“These are the challenges that we’ll find throughout our Premier League season. Times when to press high, in particular at home, and then away from home when at times you have to defend with a medium to low block and I thought the players adjusted and adapted very well to that.”

Hitchin 0 Norwich City 10

Norwich City scored 10 goals as they hammered their non-league opponents and took their goal tally to 17 in two pre-season games to date

1,777 watched the fixture at Top Field but had little idea of the goal feast to come when it was just Camerone Jermone’s two goals that were the difference at half time.

In the second half though the difference in class shone through and there were goals from Tony Andreu (3), with Gary Hooper, Wes Hoolahan, Gary O’Neil (2) and Steven Whittaker all on target as the Canaries hit double figures against a side who share the same nickname

Norwich now face Cambridge City next on Friday

Swansea City: Andy Coleman has much to answer for right now
