Whilst he may find himself behind the likes of Cork, Shelvey and Ki immediately, Monk is known to want to give more game time to Grimes and even Jay Fulton so the goal from Grimes will have been perfectly timed for him with the new season less than four weeks away.
And the youngster was delighted to get his name on the scoresheet as he took to Twitter after the game where he said “Good to get some minutes tonight against a tough side.. Great feeling to get on the scoresheet aswell, been a while”

It will be interesting to see now the line up that happens on Saturday against 1860 Munich but with Grimes on form and amongst the goals its a nice headache to give the manager with Chelsea looming larger on the horizon
