Monk Happy With Reading Workout

Monk was speaking after the game at Adams Park and ahead of the Swans second friendly in two days as they prepared to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

With just two weeks left until the new season the Swans are unbeaten in three pre-season games so far which has got to be pleasing for a boss who is looking to try and secure a better finish for his side next time around after the record breaking exploits of last season.

He said after the game รขโ‚ฌล“It was a good workout for us

รขโ‚ฌล“Reading are a good team, and weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขve had some good pre-season games with them over the past few years.

รขโ‚ฌล“The minutes on the pitch is the most important thing for the players. Quite a few of the players got 90 minutes tonight, so it was a good workout.

รขโ‚ฌล“Weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขve been working in a really good way during pre-season. Of course youรขโ‚ฌโ„ขd like to win games, but itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs more about the fitness side of it and getting match sharpness.

We had a lot of the ball tonight, which was good, and could have nicked it at the end, but it wasnรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt about the result.

As I said, itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs about the playersรขโ‚ฌโ„ข fitness, and I think weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขll get even sharper in the next two weeks ahead of the new season.รขโ‚ฌย

Swansea City: Andy Coleman has much to answer for right now
