Monk – We Played Some Good Stuff

Less than 24 hours after they drew 1-1 with Reading, it was twice European Champions Nottingham Forest who held a very different looking Swans side to a 1-1 draw despite Andre Ayew’s first ever Swansea strike.

Ayew scored past former Swans keeper Dorus De Vries early in the second half but it was soon cancelled out by Forest despite Monk believing that his team was the better on the day.

With just the two weeks until the Chelsea game I think we saw a good indication in the Swans line up of their first defensive line up which will have Neil Taylor in ahead of Tabanou and I think the side that we saw yesterday will only have a couple of changes when they line up at Stamford Bridge on that opening day.

รขโ‚ฌล“It was very similar to last night รขโ‚ฌโ€œ we started the game really strongly in the first half. We should have capitalised on a few dangerous situations that we created,รขโ‚ฌย said Monk.

รขโ‚ฌล“The second half was more even, but we dominated the ball which was pleasing.

รขโ‚ฌล“The main part of it is that we got the minutes we needed. The match fitness will do the squad the world of good.

รขโ‚ฌล“We played some very good stuff today, but there are things for us to improve on. Ultimately, we have to be pleased with what weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขve achieved over the two games. ”
