Sanity And Insanity Both Rule At Chelsea

The Swans went to Chelsea last weekend being written off by so many people but goals from Andre Ayew and Bafetimbi Gomis got us a point and the performance arguably was worth three points with the better chances falling to us as was backed up by the match stats.

We did seem to get to Jose Mourinho as he talked after the game about his side being better and having the better chances despite the evidence to the contrary and then he decided that they were going to appeal a red card for Courtois.

Quite what the appeal was about because he clearly took down the man and it was denying a clear goalscoring opportunity which, despite what anyone thinks of the rules, is enough to earn him a red card. Of course, led by the despicable John Terry, there were protests at the time but the TV replays showed that Michael Oliver got it spot on and for me it is pleasing to see the decision upheld on appeal and not giving into the bully boy tactics that Chelsea like to deploy.

Now we have the farce that he has ‘demoted’ doctor Eva Carneiro from the bench after she treated Eden Hazard late on in the game. Not sure whether anyone has pointed out to the strange one yet that she can only enter the field of play if the referee calls her on and he will only do that if he feels the player needs treatment. So maybe Jose should be looking more at his star man and why he allowed that to happen. If he was “just tired” as Jose had claimed then all he had to do was tell the referee he didn’t need treatment and she wouldn’t have been there.

But not Jose he went off on his rant which for me shows just how much the Swans performance got to him on Saturday and how badly he reacts to actually being outplayed by a team that he thinks he should beat easily.

Obviously though it looks like his bosses are letting him get away with this – especially the last bit that is just so wrong and shouldn’t have happened. It’s amusing to watch and Jose should be grateful he doesn’t have to play us every week – he can hope that Manchester City go easy on his fragile side this weekend,.
