Monk Disagrees With Transfer Deadline

Monk was a busy man at the start of the summer pretty much finishing off his business before the Swans started their pre-season training at the start of July. That he believes was essential to ensure that the new players blended into the group properly and it was difficult to argue with him when we saw the performance against Chelsea last weekend.

There are still just over two weeks left of the transfer window and there is expected to be a flurry of activity in that period as teams build their squads that will see them through until the next transfer window in January.

There is always teams who spend large in the last couple of weeks of the window and Monk believes that it puts his side at a disadvantage compared to others.

รขโ‚ฌล“I think the disappointing thing about the transfer window is that it goes into the season,รขโ‚ฌย he said.

รขโ‚ฌล“That only benefits bigger clubs, it doesnรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt benefit clubs like ourselves.

รขโ‚ฌล“You have the summer to prepare and if you get that preparation right you should get players in before the first game of the season.

รขโ‚ฌล“Thatรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs where the cut-off point should be, on that Friday night before the season starts.

รขโ‚ฌล“Then it should reopen in January. I think itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs ludicrous that it goes into the season.

รขโ‚ฌล“I think thatรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs just stupidity to be honest, but they are the rules right now.รขโ‚ฌย

Monk is expected to do minimal if any business in the remainder of the window with his squad pretty much looking as he wanted it to be with options available to him in every position something he stated he wanted to achieve.
