Monk – I Thought We Were Excellent

During the week he had called on his players to deliver a performance to back up the excellent performance last week at Chelsea and he got exactly what he asked for as the Swans brushed aside a Newcastle side who had no answer really to what the Swans had to offer.

For the second week running it was goals from Bafetimbi Gomis and Andre Ayew for the Swans but this time they came to no reply from our opponents and we now find ourselves this evening in the lofty position of the Premier League top 4.

So it was little wonder that Monk was full of praise for his players after the game รขโ‚ฌล“I spoke to the players about good teams and good players being able to back up good performances with another one and we go that,รขโ‚ฌย said Monk in his post match press conference.

รขโ‚ฌล“It was what we planned and what we delivered. I thought we were excellent. It was a confident and dominant performance and I have to be happy with that.

รขโ‚ฌล“I thought we dominated for the whole game. Even before the sending off, I thought we were dominant from start to finish. Hopefully we can continue to do that.

รขโ‚ฌล“Itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs physical and ferocious in the premier League, but you have to stand up to it and my players have shown they can handle that side of it.รขโ‚ฌย
