Britton Is Staying At Swansea

The stories have been strong this summer that Britton had played his last part at the Liberty Stadium and they were fuelled when he was left out of the tour of Germany having been told that his game time out there would be limited.

There has been interest from clubs here and abroad in obtaining the services of the long standing midfielder but the manager always said that he didn’t want to see him leave whilst the player himself was clearly reluctant to leave and I suspect torn between his desire to play football but also to stay at Swansea.

Britton made an appearance in the Premier League last weekend as we beat Newcastle and that for me showed that he still has a part to play at the Swans even if he is not going to be a first choice pick very often.

I would certainly though expect him to play against York next week in the Capital One Cup at least and with substitute appearances then we certainly don’t seem to have seen the last of Leon Britton in a Swansea shirt.

รขโ‚ฌล“Leon is a great pro and a great guy and I want him here, but he can choose his own destiny,รขโ‚ฌย said the Swansea boss.

รขโ‚ฌล“There is no sign of anything happening at the moment and the squad I have is the squad I want.

รขโ‚ฌล“Of course Leon wants to play games รขโ‚ฌโ€ they all do. But I believe Leon is happy and he will not be going anywhere.

รขโ‚ฌล“I have always wanted him to stick around รขโ‚ฌโ€ I do not want him to go.

รขโ‚ฌล“But he has earned the right to make his own choices because of what he has done for this club.

รขโ‚ฌล“The squad will change throughout the year, guys will be involved some weeks and not others.

รขโ‚ฌล“The subs who came on against Newcastle could all start games. The crowd made it clear what they thought, he is one of the best players to play for this club and is one of the main reasons we are in the Premier League.”
