Monk has done a fantastic job this summer and he had completed most of his business before the Swans returned for pre-season training which gave him the full period to work with his new look squad. And it is difficult to argue that it shouldn’t be something that everybody does given the brilliant start to the season that we have made.
Garry managed to get the signings of Andre Ayew, Kristoffer Nordfeldt, Eder and Franck Tabanou into his squad nice and early to give him the competition he wanted in each places. While he has added Gerhard Tremmel and a couple of Under-21 signings since it has been his four main signings that represent the main part of his summer spending.
He has also been critical of the closing date of the transfer window stating that it should close before the season starts to stop the last minute buys that will happen over the next two weeks. They are last minute buys that are encouraged by the media especially on the last day when Sky for example love the drama they try to create with reporters at every ground.
They could save themselves some time this year though by bypassing the Liberty Stadium as the Swans boss believes that his work is done for this window at least
“I think we are done (in terms of adding), I am not actively looking for anyone,” Monk said.
“You can never say never, but nothing is imminent or anything like that.
“And there will be no-one going out either.
“The squad I have is the one I wanted. We worked hard in the summer to get everything sorted early so we had good preparation time, and you can see in how we have started that is proving beneficial.
“I am very happy with the squad I have got.”
