There is little doubt that Gylfi and Swansea go very well together and always have done from the moment that Brendan Rodgers first bought him to Swansea on loan at the back end of our first season in the Premier League.
Gylfi has scored 14 league goals in 53 appearances which is a great statistic at this level and it is clear to see from stats like that why we were so keen to bring him back last summer when Spurs were after Michel Vorm and Ben Davies.
He may not have hit the heights that we have got used to expecting from him this season but the one thing that you do know is that form is temporary and class is permanent and Gylfi is a class player and things will come good for Gylfi and could even start this afternoon against Man Utd once more.
Certainly he was on top form after that goal at Old Trafford last season and if something similar can get this current season kick started for him then all the better. Don’t get me wrong it is not that he is playing badly just not quite to the levels that we have become accustomed to from a quality act.
After the game today Sigurdsson will join up with his Icelandic team mates for Thursday’s game against Holland where a win will just about secure their progress to Euro 2016 especially as they have a home fixture against Kazakhstan three days later.
Sigurdsson remembers that opening day win at Old Trafford with fondness “It’s something you dream about when you are a little kid. Scoring the winner there was something I will never forget.

One of the things that the Swans have improved dramatically on under Garry Monk is the amount of work that the forward players put into defending. If you watch us on a regular basis you will see that Gomis, Sigurdsson and Ayew will all do their fair share of defending and this is something that Gylfi says they work on a lot
รขโฌลWith Garry being an ex-defender he brought a lot to the way the team defended. That helped us gain a lot of points. We were harder to beat than before” he said.
รขโฌลWe do a lot of training, especially in pre-season, on how he wants the team to defend, from the attack down to the defence, and I am pretty sure all the boys know what to do when it comes to a matchday. Sometimes it does get boring doing the defensive work, but when you get three points on a Saturday it is more than worth it.รขโฌย
