The Welsh squad was training in Hensol today full in the knowledge that if they beat Cyprus and Israel then they will qualify for the final stages of an international tournament for the first time since 1958.
Sitting proudly three points clear at the top of their qualifying group they are also ranked 9th in the latest FIFA rankings and after so many false dawns in my lifetime it does this time appear that they should be set for the tournament in France next summer.
Such though is the professionalism of the Welsh squad they are not allowing themselves to get carried away until the job is completed and will head out to Cyprus knowing that it is just the first of four steps left on the qualifying trail
รขโฌลWe donรขโฌโขt want to think about it (qualifying) yet,รขโฌย said Hennessey.
รขโฌลWe want to get over the line and itรขโฌโขs going to be two difficult games.
รขโฌลBut hopefully we can do the business out in Cyprus and set it up for the home game and beat Israel.
รขโฌลTo get to 50 caps, especially with the (knee) injury I had, is a fantastic honour and a great achievement,รขโฌย Hennessey said.
รขโฌลIรขโฌโขve been keeping myself right in training and trying to play under-21 games and cup games as much as I can.
รขโฌลI relish games with Wales but I would anyway because Iรขโฌโขm playing for my country and I want to give the best I can.รขโฌย
