Most of the European transfer windows closed last night meaning that moves abroad seem out if the question so now it remains to be seen whether he will get a move somewhere else in this country or whether he will be forced to kick his heels even longer at the end of the window.
I still maintain this is such a waste of a career and you have to question the people who have been advising Michu. Two years ago he was hot property and winning Spanish clubs and now he looks as if his career will stall and many players will tell you it is difficult to come back from that at any stage.
I really don’t see either of the two clubs linked coming in for him – Aston Villa seem to have turned their attentions elsewhere and whilst West Ham are known to make the odd crazy panic buy on transfer deadline day this one is one too far for him.
Of course there is still Celtic who were also rumoured to be looking at Michu but I really am not sure how much mileage there was in that one either.
So that leaves other clubs who may not have been linked. I think we can probably rule out anyone outside of the Premier League because Michu still wants a wage that reflects when he was good and I don’t know if anyone else would be interested but time will tell.
How I think this will pan out is that Michu will still be our player this time tomorrow but he will be paid off at some point between now and Christmas and sadly from there his career will fade even more leaving a man who may always wonder “what if”
A great shame and how did this ever happen?
