Gomis has started the season in the same kind of form that he finished last season and it is evident that the Swans have gained themselves another top quality striker.
Listening to Talksport last night they were very complimentary of the scouting system at the Swans as they bring on striker after striker to score the goals that continue to see them riding high in the Premier League table.
At last night’s fans forum, Garry Monk and Huw Jenkins talked about how they had watched the progress of Gomis for 18 months before signing him and watching him for that long was a big reason why Gomis chose Swansea ahead of other options that he had at the time.
And that is why it must be so satisfying to both of them to see that faith in the player restored to such a level that he is banging in the goals so regularly.
Watford will be the nest team to try and stop Gomis’ scoring record but head coach Quique Sanchez Flores insists that they have no special plans for the Swansea striker
Our plans are collective,” he said. “It is to move Gomis into the place where we can reduce his ability. We never prepare one strategy for Messi, one strategy for Gomis, one for Rooney as that is a big mistake.
“In this case for us it is important to choose when we want to defend and attack — Gomis is part of the plan of course, but he is always involved in the main plan.
“They are a really good team. They are confident and have been working really well the last few years.
“They are a very clever team, they manage the transitions very well and have good individuals in Gomis, Ayew, [Jefferson] Montero, [Jonjo] Shelvey — they have a lot of good players. But we think of the team as a collective — no different to other matches.”
