Odion Ighalo’s 59th-minute strike proved enough to give the home side the win although we will point to an under par Swansea performance where we never really tested the resolve of the Watford defence even when they went down to ten men.
Going into the game with optimism high we never reached the heights that we have become used to and certainly people will point the finger and say that the internationall break cost us the momentum that we had two weeks ago.
When one player has an off day you can pretty much compensate for it within the team but for the Swans today all players fell short of their usual standards and that was probably a bigger disappointment than the result itself.
Flores though was not underplaying the effort of his players when he spoke to the media after the game “It was a really big experience to win a first match in the Premier League
“It was a really tough match as Swansea is a good team.
“In the first-half we played well and had control, but it got complicated after the sending off,” he added.
“In the second half, we had to defend a lot.
“I don’t like to play like this.
“I’m really pleased and would like to dedicate this win to the fans.”
