Monk Happy To Prove Doubters Wrong

The Swans boss watched his side come from a goal behind to secure a first win in seven games and lift themselves up the Premier League table in the process.

Goals from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Andre Ayew cancelled one out from Jordan Ayew and gave the Swans a first away win of the season and it was little wonder that the Swans boss was full of smiles at the final whistle.

“We didn’t need it, we wanted it and there is a difference between that” said Monk

“We fought hard for the three points, we wanted to get back on track with a good performance after a period where we have had some good performances and some poor ones but today was a good one

“We want to use today now to get some momentum back, I have a very good team, they have great character and they showed that today.

“I said to the players that the build up this week would make it natural for both teams to be nervous. I told them at half time to use the ball better and we always looked like the team to go on and get the goal.

“the way that we came back I think showed that we deserved it.

“We are all under pressure after this week. We talked about quietening the crowd down and they certainly became frustrated.

“It is a circus, it is part of the job, I focus on getting on with my job. I get them to focus on the football and when we do it we can get the result that we did

“I have sympathy with Tim tonight, once a few people decide to say things then some come on the bandwagon but it is the nature of the job and you keep working and keep believing.

“We scored two good goals, the free kick from Gylfi and a great combination for the second, a deserved three points”
