But he can take great heart from a much improved display that showed that his side can still play the passing game that we have enjoyed so much over the past few years.

On an afternoon where many predicted an easy win for Liverpool, the Swans tested their hosts severely and can certainly be disappointed not to leave Anfield with at least a point after the performance.

“I feel gutted for the players as I thought we were excellent today” said Monk. รขโ‚ฌล“I felt we deserved more than what we got.

รขโ‚ฌล“We limited a very good Liverpool side to pretty much nothing, and when we had the ball, we had good spells of possession.

รขโ‚ฌล“I have to give full credit to the players. Everyone was working well and they were determined to get us out of this period. I donรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt think we looked like a team struggling today.

รขโ‚ฌล“It was a very good away performance against an excellent team, but unfortunately decisions went against us today. It was a soft penalty and it was disappointing to lose on a decision that was out of our hands.

รขโ‚ฌล“Slight decisions are going against us at the moment. Itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs only a matter of time before that turns.

รขโ‚ฌล“Weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขll take confidence from this performance and weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขre confident that results will pick up.รขโ‚ฌย
