And whilst it is a key issue for the club at the moment it is reasonably clear that the whole circus that has surrounded the potential transfer has become overkill for Paul Clement who was asked about the move after the Swans demolished Sampdoria 4-0 at the Liberty.
Clement was clearly irritated that the future of Sigurdsson was one of the first questions he was asked in the post match press conference with the journalists clearly not keen to discuss first the impressive display that they had just witnessed.
“It’s a shame you haven’t asked me about the game because from my point of view I’m committed to the players that want to be here, want to work and that want to improve,” said Clement.
Clement’s statement was a clear one that says that Gylfi’s time at Swansea is just about up and given that he has not played any part in pre-season since the first game at Barnet it has been a wasted month for Swansea who could have used an earlier transfer to get in replacements.
And now it appears that it has dragged on too long for the boss who was forced to answer these crazy questions first ahead of discussing a great end to pre-season.
Come on Swansea, sort it out
