What it did highlight though was just how much football has gone wrong when this is what people want to moan about. Frankly I couldn’t really care whether Bony wears number 2, 9 or displays his phone number so long as he is scoring goals again for the Swans.

And Bony himself clearly doesn’t care as he explained: “The fans were very good to me, and I can’t wait to be back with them again,

“I always watched the Swansea news all the time on the internet and the games they played. The club was always a part of me.

“We had some enjoyable moments together – now those moments are happening again.”
