BBC journalist Dafydd Pritchard has revealed the terms of the deal in a series of tweets that suggests that the Championship leaders will sign James on a loan deal until the end of the season with add ons assuming they win promotion worth ‘more than รยฃ10m’ As ever, the Swans have managed to strike a deal that benefits only the player and the buying club as we managed with the likes of Alfie Mawson, Sam Clucas and Fede Fernandez.
Daniel James has told Swanseaโs owners he wants to leave. His move to Leeds would initially be on loan, then permanent if Leeds are promoted.
Loan fee of around ยฃ2m, then a permanent transfer potentially worth more than ยฃ10m with add-ons.

Swansea want to keep him but feel they canโt now James has told them he wants to leave. If Leeds miss out on promotion, Swansea would take him back after his loan and try getting him to sign a new contract – but that look unlikely.

Now clearly this is information that has been fed to Pritchard by the club which of course is doing everything that they can to make it look like it is not their fault but the simple fact is there is nobody else to blame for a deal looking like this other than those placed in charge of transfer dealings.
Other clubs are capable of telling players to stay put on deadline day (Sky Sports are reporting several cases of this nature today) but we just cave in, accept the first offer that clearly tells you just how inept our Chairman and owners are but also how little regard that they show for the football side of the club.
Add to that the stories that Jefferson Montero is on his way to West Brom and we may as well just help everyone else’s promotion bids whilst severely damaging any chance we had in the process.
I will say it now that this deal will NEVER see us getting anywhere near รยฃ10m for James, it will be loaded with add-ons that include future transfer deals, Leeds success in the Premier League if they get there and probably their ability to work out the meaning of life at the same time.
That aside to accept a deal that is worth – NOW – just รยฃ2 million is a piss take of the highest order. Leaving it to the last minute to complete is a farce and with that kind of income it means that not only will Potter have no time to even contemplate an adequate replacement but he will have nowhere near the funds to ensure he can get in one even if he had the time.
We should simply have stood firm, told Leeds where to get off rather than bend over and deal with it in the same way as we have done in previous years.
A complete piss take and an unforgivable one at that. Just another one in a long line of continued shite decisions that stemmed from a desperation of a group of people to cash in on the good ship Swansea City.
