It is likely to take at least seven wins from eight to get the Swans into the play offs but where there’s hope there is a chance as we enter into the last month of the season with the visit of play off chasing Boro.
Our visitors had their own play off hopes dented slightly in midweek when they were beaten by Bristol City and will clearly arrive at the Liberty looking to correct that position although we should remember that we are unbeaten at the Liberty in the league since Boxing Day.
The reality is that the play off positions will be beyond us this season but a good end to the season (five of our eight are at home) and we could move ourselves into a confident position ahead of the summer and maybe push on next season.
Much of that desire to push on though will be with the ambition of the owners who have shown very little of that this season with endless departures from the Liberty in the past twelve months and very little incoming. With many believing that will continue this summer it promises to be an interesting time at the Liberty even if a little depressing to watch at times off the pitch.
Graham Potter is largely credited with doing a great job this season given the resources he has been given and moving Matt Grimes into a defensive position in the last two games is another one of those that has got some credit, especially from the player himself

“He told me he thought I needed to play in the left centre-half position. I believe in his tactical ideas and the players buy into it as well, which is important. It worked against City and he asked me to do the same again Brentford,” said Grimes after the midweek win.
“Iรขโฌโขm confident of stepping into any position he wants me to play in. Whatever position he puts me in, I know thereรขโฌโขs a reason for it.
“I trust in him and Iรขโฌโขll give it my best. I tried to remember how I played against City because, if Iรขโฌโขm comfortable doing it against them, Iรขโฌโขm comfortable doing it against anyone.”
The Swans win in midweek ended a run of four straight defeats but Middlesbrough are almost in freefall in comparison having picked up just one point from their last six games that has seen them fall from potential automatic promotion candidates to outside the play offs and pressure will be on them Saturday to do the business.
For me on this one, the Swans home form is good and I expect to see that continue Saturday afternoon but our hopes of the play offs were killed off by terrible away form that has seen us lose six on the bounce on the road in the league.
But with pressure off we can make the most of what we have left and another good win hopefully beckons on Saturday.
