Neil Warnock may be well past the age of state pension but he shows no signs of slowing down and retiring from football management after he agreed and signed an extended deal to retain charge of Middlesbrough for next season.

The manager who has more golf clubs behind him than your average professional golfer and he will now stay for a further season after initially signing a deal just to see him through this term.

Next season will be an incredible 42nd in league management for Warnock but he retains the passion and desire to manage and, more importantly to him, the support of his family to continue to work.

As a result the large part of his press conference yesterday was dedicated to his new deal, the man himself and his family and his longer term plans for the club with a desire to get fans back inside the ground – a key factor he said as well in his decision for signing on for a further 12 months.
