Under-23’s draw in KOL’s first game back

The Swans Under-23’s started life under new leadership today with a 1-1 draw with their Ipswich counterparts at Landore.

Kris O’Leary was back at the club and in charge for the first time since his appointment was confirmed and he saw Ali Al-Hamadi’s fifth goal of the season give his side the lead in the first half only to be pulled back in the second period by an equaliser for the visitors through Zak Brown from the penalty spot.

According to the report on the official site the Swans can count themselves unlucky not to secure the win although they also had to be grateful to Josh Gould for saving an earlier penalty in the first half from Brown

Al-Hamadi converted just a few minutes later when he scored from a pass by Daniel Williams and the Swans had other chances to extend that lead in the first half but were denied by the opposition keeper.ย  ย It was the woodwork at the start of the second half that came to the visitor’s rescue and ultimately it was the missed/wasted chances that cost the Swans the win that their play deserved when Brown converted his penalty.

Ipswich were reduced to 10 men in stoppage time when Cameron Humphreys was shown a yellow card for simulation, his second caution of the game.
