Phil SumblerFull marks should go to both Swansea City and Cardiff City this evening for joining forces to unite against racism ahead of the derby clash at the Liberty on Saturday evening.
Saturday’s game co-incides with United Nations Anti-Racism Day and has seen the clubs and their associated supporter groups coming together and signing a joint pledge against racism and discrimination (the pledge can be seen in full by clicking here)
Swansea City Supporters Trust, Disabled Supporters Association and the Jacks against Racism and Fascism groups have all been involved, as well as the Cardiff City Supporters Club, Cardiff City Disabled Supporters Association and Cardiff City Supporters Trust.
Players from both teams will warm up in Kick it out T-Shirts which on the back will have a message that reads “We fight with you” and the number 22 in support of Sol Bamba who is currently fighting against Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Speaking on the club’s official website, Swans CEO Julian Winter said “The issue of racism and discrimination is one that sadly isn’t going away, and we feel it is important as a football club that we continue to battle against these prejudices that put a stain on society and the game we all love.
“I’m delighted that both clubs have come together to unite around such an important issue, and I’d like to thank all the supporter groups from both Swansea City and Cardiff City who have played such a key role in this campaign.”
