Bowyer happy to lose if trying to win?

The Swans head to Birmingham City on Friday night to take on a Blues side looking to secure the wins that they need to push them further away from the relegation zone with a season in League One next season very much a possibility.

Birmingham currently are just four points ahead of the relegation zone and ahead of a Rotherham side who have four games in hand meaning that they will be looking to push on in their last eight games of the season which start against us on Friday evening.

Manager Lee Bowyer has been working with his squad during the recent international break and has stated that he will be encouraging them to go out and try to win the game starting with us and certainly believing that if they sit back then they will more than likely surrender all the points which of course will be very welcome from our perspective.

Speaking at his press conference on Thursday afternoon, Bowyer said โ€œThe players know what is expected of them and they know what they have to do. They are ready for these last eight games.

โ€œWe know we have to win games, that is plain and simple. The more points we can get on the board and as quick as we can, then it puts more pressure on the teams around us.

โ€œIf you sit back against these top sides, they are in and around the top of the division for a reason because they are good teams. If you sit back and let them dictate, then you are going to lose – at least lose trying to win! Every point is valuable, and you can surprise teams.

โ€œWe will compete, and we will try and win the game – as we do in every game. Swansea are a good team that have good players who can hurt you. But if you stop those good players then it evens it out a little bit and we have players that can also hurt them. The most important thing is that we know we are playing at home and we have to make it tough for them.”
