Williams now expected to move on from Liverpool but that will rule the Swans out

Just last weekend it was being reported that supposed Swans loan target Neco Williams would be expected to stay at Anfield next season as Liverpool looked to hold onto one of their bright young prospects but that now seems unlikely but a loan move appears to be being ruled out at this stage.

Williams is expected to return to Anfield after Wales Euro 2020 campaign ends and look to secure his future with the defender wanting regular first team football and Liverpool now supposedly ready to let him go with a ยฃ10m price tag on his head.

Clearly a sale – as it did with Rhian Brewster last season – will rule the Swans out of the running and there are Premier League clubs now watching the situation closely ready to make a move as and when the for sale notices are put up.

Leeds, Aston Villa, Burnley and Southampton have all been linked and the ยฃ10m is reported to be a “starting price” with Liverpool clearly hoping that a bidding war may ensue.ย  ย Unlike some other Premier League clubs Liverpool have never been afraid to cash in on their assets when they believe that the time is right and whilst the transfer of Brewster last summer may have raised a few eyebrows his lack of goals (none) in the league last season made the deal they achieved with Sheffield United look a very strong one.

The Swans were keen to try and bring Williams to the Liberty when they felt that a loan move maybe available and whilst a loan cannot be totally ruled out the reports of a sale will mean that is only going to happen if no permanent fees can ever be arranged.
