Flynn Downes is a man happy to be in Swansea and said that once he knew of the interest from the Swans that there was nowhere else he would want to be than playing in a Russell Martin side.
The midfielder signed a four year contract yesterday to play for the Swans and he revealed that it was the presence of the new Head Coach which made the decision to make the switch much easier.
Flynn played against MK Dons – then managed by Martin – last season and that game clearly made a lasting impression on him. โThe style of play massively appeals to me, I played against the gafferโs side with Ipswich last year and I think we only touched the ball about four times during the entire game,” he told the Swans official website during his first interview
โSo, when this came up, and I knew he was going to be here it was a dream move.
โThe way he wants to play football appeals to me massively.”
Downes his likely to make his debut for the Swans on Saturday evening against Sheffield United although that will not be his first appearance at the Liberty – he was a late substitute for Ipswich in a 3-2 win for the Tractor Boys during the Swans first season back in the Championship.
โIt left an impression on me, big time,โ he added.
โItโs one of those stadiums where the fans are quite close to the pitch, itโs lovely.
โYou can really hear the fans and I remember that clearly.
โI cannot wait to step out there with all the fans in, it will be a special day I am sure because fans havenโt really been able to attend and thatโs been such a weird thing for players.
โIt was weird for us at Ipswich, and I am really looking forward to getting out there with the Swansea fansย cheering the team on.โ
