The Swans are still hopeful of securing a double deal with Manchester United this summer as interest in both Ethan Laird and James Garner remains very much real and alive although both are subject to some further discussion and agreement leaving some doubt over the both of them.
Laird is someone well known to Russell Martin who saw him play for his MK Dons team last season whilst Garner has been a target for the Swans before and it has been suggested that Martin’s close relationship with Darren Fletcher could be a deciding factor in any deal for Garner although a Premier League move has been speculated as being more than likely.
So where do we stand on both deals at the moment?
Ethan Laird
Russell Martin spoke about his pursuit of Laird in his press conference yesterday with the manager sayingย “Personally, I love Ethan, I worked with him for four or five months.
“He’s a brilliant character. He did really well for us on the pitch, but heโs not our player at the moment.
“Iโd be lying if I said I wouldn’t like to work with him again at some point.
“But he’s not here. Heโs atย Man Unitedย at the moment. But as a player and a person heโs someone we really like.”
James Garner
Meanwhile any move for James Garner elsewhere is reportedly being held up by United wanting him to sign a new contract at Old Trafford.
Several outlets have reported that he will not be allowed to leave on loan until he signs the new contract with the Swans one of a host of clubs linked with a move for him.
The Swans have never confirmed full interest in Garner.
So the update is nothing new. Great.
Update really, talk about clickbait lol
