Man City talent linked with Swans move – Brighton’s £8m bid for player turned down this year

The Swans are being linked with a move for Manchester City youngster who Russell Martin would like to bring to South Wales on loan in the January transfer window.

McAtee is highly rated at the Ethiad Stadium, a fact highlighted by the fact that they turned down an £8m bid for the player earlier this year from Brighton – managed by former Swans boss Graham Potter.

Manchester United and Barcelona are also rumoured to be watching the players progress but City are keen to keep hold of one of their strongest talents which has alerted the Swans team to a potential loan move.

Wales Online reports that the Swans also showed an interest in a move back in the summer and whilst Man City opted against sending him out a few months ago, they are thought to be keen for the Salford-born ace to gain some regular game-time at senior level before assessing his situation further next summer.

Wales Online reports: “Man City are thought to be impressed with the style implemented by Russell Martin and see the Swansea.com Stadium as a place where McAtee could develop his game, although his contract situation may need to be resolved before a decision is made on his next career move.

McAtee – who started his career at Manchester United – signed his first professional contract with Pep Guardiola’s side in the summer of 2020, although he currently has just over 18 months left to run on that deal.”
