Russell Martin – We didn’t deserve the Bournemouth scoreline and it hurts

When you go into a game on the back of two straight league wins you are hoping you don’t repeat the mistakes of the last time you went into the game on the back of two straight league wins.

For the second time in less than a month the Swans partially undone the good work of two good league wins by coming up short in the third game in a week and this time crashing back to earth with a big bump at Bournemouth as we were on the back of a comprehensive 4-0 defeat.

It was little wonder then that Swans boss Russell Martin was frustrated by the way his side went down to defeat especially after what he described as one of his best periods of play as a Swans boss at the start of the game.

โ€œI thought we started the game brilliantly, one of the best 25-minute periods since I have been here,โ€ he told the official site in his post match press conference.

โ€œWe are disappointed we did not score when we were on top, we had some good situations we did not make the most of.

โ€œThe game got a bit messy then towards the end of the first half, which I think suited them more than us, but they did not create much and neither did we.

โ€œSo at half-time it was about trying to weather the storm and having that energy in the first 15 minutes and we didnโ€™t do that.

โ€œThey score with a moment of sloppiness from us, and the difference was they were really ruthless and clinical.

โ€œWe cannot concede so early after half-time when we had spoken about it. We tried to remain the side we want to be, but it is another moment of sloppiness for the third goal, and itโ€™s the same for the fourth goal.

“We know we have a lot to work on, a lot to improve on, so I wonโ€™t get too angry or disappointed.

โ€œBut I am hurt for it to be 4-0 because I didnโ€™t think the guys deserved that.โ€
