Another Manchester City player linked with Swans move

Three Championship clubs – the Swans, Blackpool and Barnsley – are all reported this morning to be keeping a close eye on Manchester City midfielder Tommy Doyle who is currently on loan at Hamburg.

It has certainly not been a slow start to transfer rumour season this time around and Doyle is the second City player that we are supposedly interested in with Jamie McAtee – who has been in their recent matchday squads – also supposedly high up on our radar.

Football League World state that all three clubs have been in touch with the Premier League champions with Doyle having played just 73 minutes for Hamburg since joining them on loan.

The publication reports that Doyle is confident of making a mark in Germany and eventually breaking into the side on a regular basis. Concerns, though, are growing back in Manchester, with City wanting their talented youngster to be playing more football.

They also suggest that if there was to be a change of clubs for Doyle in the January window there is also interest in France, Spain and Holland for the player, very highly regarded at the Ethiad Stadium.

Back in the summer both West Brom and Middlesbrogh showed interest in Doyle before he headed to Germany.

He is described as a technical hard-working midfielder with exquisite vision in the opposition’s final third and with great set-piece ability.

He can play as a holding midfielder or occupy a box-to-box role and has a great range of distribution.

Last season he scored four goals and registered ten assists in 18 games for City’s U23 side in Premier League 2.

He is comfortable in position and has a low centre of gravity which enables him to weave past his opponents with ease and make progressive carries into the opposition’s final third.

He has made 7 appearances for the Man City first team and based on the description above would certainly fit into a Swansea side and the style that we are trying to play under Russell Martin.
