Problem is Russell we keep making those individual mistakes

Russell Martin says it was individual mistakes that cost the Swans against Nottingham Forest but this is becoming a worrying trend as for the second home game running we handed victory on a plate to an opposing side.

Two weeks ago it was catastrophic passing that cost us against Reading but this weekend it was just plain crazy defending and goalkeeping that allowed Steve Cooper’s side to leave the Swansea.com stadium with maximum points in their pockets.

Martin can rightly point the finger at first half missed chances by Ntcham and Piroe which could (and should) have presented a very different picture of the game but the simple fact is we cannot afford to keep making basic errors and making life easy for the opposition.

โ€œWe had the better chances and should have been one or two up by half-time.

โ€œJoel missed an open goal, and weโ€™ve been punished our errors. If you look at the goals weโ€™ve conceded, thatโ€™s obvious. In those five minutes (after the break) we were not us. We worked so hard to get back into the game, but another individual error cost us.

โ€œIโ€™m disappointed with the scoreline, but not the performance.

โ€œIn the last three games we have created more than what we have all season. If we cut out the individual mistakes, then weโ€™ll be fine.โ€

This is the thing though we are not cutting out the individual mistakes.ย  Missing chances is one thing but it is our defensive weaknesses that are shining through at the moment.ย  We have 31 goals against already this season and we don’t look like we are capable of a clean sheet.ย  ย These are the things that need working on in midweek sessions to bring some stability back to the defence.ย  ย Maybe it is more than a coincidence that we have become significantly weaker since continually tweaking with the defensive line up.

The words of the boss are factually correct but they are becoming alarmingly repetitive.
